ad astrajust another day,
an egg yolk sun against
grey skies
sitting on the blue tide
leaning against the passenger seat window,
the one you always look through
the one I always dream through
chains shattering around me,
loosening myself to life
freeing myself to
love
flying to the sun
with no oxygen left
and if I could,
I would take
every atom
from every star
in every cosmos
and collide them together
into a brilliant light show
until I deplete the universe
just so you can have a little more sunshine.

"ad astra" by Sunny-McAzn

This lovely poem employs cosmic imagery of the universe to convey a very personal message of the lengths someone might go to for another person.

ImzadiSomeday I will be able to convince you that your freckles are constellations
Each one that I find just as beautiful as the last
Someday, when we are far away from the burnt out houses and the burnt out people and this burnt out place, we will watch the black sky at night with no disruptions, and without fear of the dark
Someday, the unknown will no longer be such a nervous beat of my heart, instead, it will be a tiny drop of rain that was bound to fall
Someday, you will realize that my blood runs through my veins so much faster when you touch me and I worship your lips like they teach you not to in Sunday school
Today, when you were on the kitchen floor I felt like I needed to save you from everything bad in the world,
I realized that someday, I'll be able to stay where I belong.

This piece utilizes unique language
and captures imagery beautifully. It's an
all encompassing piece, like when you listen
to really good music in stereo, and you feel
like you're just swimming in the sound of it.

What Forever IsTicks and tocks
drip from the frozen clock,
whispering four in the morning to the swaying floor.
My breath tastes like stars,
masked by greedy clouds,
and painted in an suffocating autumn breeze.
My fingers play muffled chords,
between neighbor's snores,
to an invisible audience, hidden in the creaks of the house.
The air smells of pencil shavings,
and stuffed animal tears,
and relaxation coats my bare limbs, on each icy breath of wind.
"I've figured it out,"
I whisper to myself in the dark,
mind painted in serene shades of green,
as my eyelids flutter like drowning paperdolls.
Your name falls from my lips when I close my eyes,
to no one but my bedroom walls,
and bedraggled zebras painted in eyeliner.
You tuck me in,
feet pulled from under the covers,
and plant a kiss on the hollow of my neck,
bare bodies nestled as one.
Your strong arms pull me from jarring nightmares.
You tuck my toes between your legs when they're cold.
You.
It's you that sp

What Forever Is by SoImStillUnsure

A beautifully descriptive and enchanting
piece of literature that speaks of the joys
that love can bring, no matter what your circumstances are.

"Concering One's Bed" by TheOtherSarshi

This entertaining and strange short
story is an interesting take on modern
relationships. The narrative voice is
convincing, as is the scenario constructed.
TheOtherSarshi has been very clever
in highlighting different relationship issues
created by a modern open society, and
illustrates them in a story that delivers
an interesting and twisting plot until the end.

Summer CharmTaylor laughed. She swung, Clarke pushed. Her stomach dropped as she went back, forth, back, forth. Her hair flew about her face, caught by the sunlight. She felt like a sunbeam.
Clarke's stomach hurt but he said nothing. He'd be in the hospital again straight away if he did. Back, forth, back, forth. Laugh. She laughed. He smiled, then grimaced. Taylor didn't see.
She poked her tongue through the empty space where a tooth once was, tasting the summer. She smelled cut grass and sunshine and hot pavement, saw crickets and glow-bugs and stars.
Clarke smelled anesthetic and disinfectant and plastic, saw white hospital gowns and tiled floors and wheeled beds. But he smiled and pushed, smiled and pushed.

"Summer Charm" by DancesWithLightening

Behind the sweet beginning there is an
ache so acute that it's difficult to grasp
the first time through.  Luckily, the short
length invites multiple readings, so that both
the charm and pain of a ill child's summer
can be fully appreciated.
