The Night Before ResultsThe Night Before Results

Twas the night before judging, when all through the flat
Not a creature was stirring, not even the chat.
The keyboards were prepped by the computer with care,
In hopes that results would soon be there.
The entrants were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of rewards danced in their heads.
The randoms in IRC, and I with a snap,
Had just settled our tablets for a long winter’s nap.
When out on the net there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.
Away to the computer I flew like a flash,
And tore open the browser with a great mash.
The cursor on the breast of the new-fallen glow
Gave the lustre of newness to notice below.
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,

With a sleep deprived admin, so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment it must be techgnotic.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,

The Night Before Results by Loona-Cry

A fine example of parody done right,
Loona-Cry writes an ode to techgnotic
after the popular The Night Before Christmas.

This beautifully written haiku uses word
choice and poignant imagery to portray an event

He brings her out into the night, the night,
where the lights dance and bite like greek fire
wound round her head in a halo of wire.
The city opens out like a mirage, a restless dream,
all pendulums and fraying seams –

Compelling imagery littered metaphorical
storytelling interjected with rhyme done so

dragon ink by glossolalias

This vignette is outstanding as it takes
us on a journey from a well-decribed strip mall
tattoo parlor to a suprise end.

Between Two Strangers by schongslipper

A short story that's entirely dialogue
and leaves readers wanting more of the tension,
hope and humor here. Luckily, there are two
follow-ups in the writer's gallery.
