From the suggester: "I love the deceptive simplicity of this piece,

and how the ending has a very dizzying zoom-out effect."

Paint the DreamsEvery night, on the insides of my eyelids,
I paint the Universe with the ink set of imagination
And the charcoal sticks of memory,
Then flip it upside down and the wrong way round
And let it snag into focus-
On my sleeping synapses, the branches of the Inspiration Tree .
In my ivory skull-box of random echoes,
Every melody, every voice, is re-written and rescored,
For a symphony of electricity, crisscrossing nerves ,
And running down, like liquid lightning
Into the ears of the dormant soul.
Here, this is that part of my chaotic desk
Where I re-write physics to suit myself,
Redesign monsters and angels to my own specifications
Until the lines between them are blurred out of recognition.
In this drawer, I keep my nightmares
Under layers of fine, crinkled tissue paper, bound with laughter
And interspersed with the dead bodies of silk butterflies
This rack, here, holds the satin ribbons and velvet strings
Of the slipping, crackling madnesses that only come out when I call
And t

An absolutely spectacular rendering of imagination, dreams,

and nightmares from redesigning monsters and rescoring

melodies to rewriting the laws of physics.

FFM 2012, July 2 - Exegesis"And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made." The lecturer quoted, barely glancing at the thick black Bible. "And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made."
His students were still alert and awake – they had barely passed Genesis 1 after all. "Obviously, 'rested' here does not mean God was literally tired, for God does not tire. It merely meant he was finished, done, with his work of creating Heaven and Earth, and could now take a moment to consider it – the Hebrew word shâbath..."
Unfortunately, the lecturer did not have time to finish. The earthquake swept across the campus, uprooting trees and collapsing some of the smaller buildings outright.
The cracks in the ground grew ever larger, cutting the Holmes Memorial Building in half, before the shocked eyes of the students. And from the cracks streamed

Says the Suggester: "It's silly in a very clever way,

and a lovely little bit of flash."

The Purge: PrologueBelial said to Elton speaking under his thin, widened lips, "I can't say."
Elton looked to his right, under rippling waves of unreal gray shades, and conjured a fireplace. The fireplace reminded him of home, or rather, his first home. The home where he still had people waiting for him at home. Home. Where snow still fell little cold petals on the brim of his hat. The fireplace was his anchor and it was the only way he could find himself getting through another tortured conversation with Belial. A name so lacking subtlety could only be handled by a vision so confident.
"And why not?" Elton said, straightening his back prying his eyes from the fireplace. "Don't blame programming again, I see straight through you."
"Do you, Elton? Is it really so important to see through imagination? That's something any sane person could do with ease. It's obvious I'm not here." Belial stepped forward, pulling his coat over him. The rippling waves of the purity had begun to snow above them. The conceptua

This short introduction to a larger story sets up a

feeling of overwhelming dread and anxiety when a man

attempts to dodge the inevitable.
