From the suggester:  A fine poem about life,

seen partially as possible dialogue between lovers

that soon expands to include the world, done with words

that have depth and beauty to spare.

Extraordinary parallelism and epiphanical

ponderings makes for stunning free verse.

Antikythera mechanismElise sunk down with the rest of the ship, dragged down by her brass innards. Wordlessly, she begged her creator to let go, but she knew he wouldn't. He'd brought her to life out of love, and he would do anything to save her. Elise watched him struggle and drown, her perfect sculpted face impassive while her mind whirred and clicked behind it in turmoil.
She hit the seabed and was swallowed in a cloud of mud as the carcass of the ship broke apart around her. Over the ages her gears seized up and her alabaster curves effervesced and decayed, macerated by the sea. Still her soul lingered on. Aphrodite had infused life into her copper heart, and it would never stop now. Never.
She lay in the Lethe for the longest time, while the lives of men went on oblivious above. Chinese DeliveryI rubbed the wet rag over the table where a previous customer had spilt ginger sauce. Things had slown down, already at the lull in the evening where people stopped coming in. It looked like we would close early tonight.

Since then I've picked up some of it, especially when I was working the kitchen. Lan in particular had a fondness for teaching me curse words, always insulting me playfully. I got used to it eventually, knowing she meant no ill will. I was lucky to get the job in the first place since I stood out so much, but I secretly think Lan only hired me so she could send someone out to deal with the bothersome non-Chinese customers.
She was waiting for me at the counter when I got back from

A highly entertaining story written with

a dazed narrator in a surreal and surprising setting.

Pass the caffeine, JupiterHer hair is a long tangle of untidy black curls, poorly restrained by two satin green ribbons. It’s wild and untameable, much like her. Around her neck she wears a small glass jar on a fine silver chain. The jar is empty. It feels icy when I clasp it with my bare fingers. Every time I do so I can sense her growing tenser, her delicate eyebrows furrow into a frown, and her pale, quivering lips form a bitter, ugly grimace. It’s almost enough to make me tear my eyes off her.
She goes by the name of Jupiter, after a planet as mysterious as herself, though whether or not that is her birth name is unclear to me. I’ve asked her numerous times about her name, but her usual response is a shrug or a change of topic.
There was this one time, however, when we were just fourteen. I’d asked her why her name was Jupiter and she’d stared at me in an expressionless kind of way before murmuring that it was because that was what she had decided, that it had fit her when she’

How could you not be taken in for the ride by that fantastic title?
