Never Face RealityNever Face Reality,
It's not good enough.
Too cryptic,
Too lonely,
Too empty...
It's just not enough.
Facing reality is giving in.
If I face reality I can't be the winner,
In reality I'm no champion.
Each attempt is beaten back with ferocity.
I'm not good enough.
Facing reality is admitting that. I don't want to.
If reality were better I would face it.
But here it is.
A starstruck girl who thinks the world is brilliant,
Who tries to see the beauty in everything, and tries to live in each day.
But can't.
The reality:
A narcissist,
A weakling,
A know-it-all,
A loner,
A pessimist,
So full of fear of everything, that she can't move foward.
Who needs reality? There's no fun in reality.
If reality is a world without magic,
Where death is just decay,
I don't want it.
I'll keep to my fantasies thanks.

Never Face Reality by Puppy-eater

Those of us who live to create,
who spend our days in worlds of our
own making, will surely see ourselves
in the words of Puppy-eater's
manifesto against "reality".

selfless by ScottMan2th

Wishing stars are selfless; they listen
to hundreds of thousands of wishes
every evening as the sky darkens,
and they never complain.  But according
to ScottMan2th, it's a lonely job.

Sticky FingersShamrock-painted nails
scrape the bottom of the barrel,
mint chocolate chip ice cream
dripping from sticky fingers
like the final notes
of a tragic romance.
Lying heavy on her tongue:
the bitter aftertaste
of a lesson learned too late.
Rubbing salt across the open wound,
she bites down on her spoon
and wishes for relief,
but she's always had a jealous bone
and she knows him well enough by now
to know that when his sister calls,
he doesn't turn the bedroom lights off
and lock the door.

"Sticky Fingers" by betwixtthepages

A beautifully written piece that
begs to be read again and again.

The Eyes of the Painted Heiress by SmittenFirefly

Suggester: "This story is an excellent
telling of a new fairy tale, and is one that
should be taken to heart and passed
down through centuries."

Invasion fleetThe invasion fleet emerged from the oort cloud, adapted their shields to the heliosphere and merged with the debris of the scattered disc. In layman's terms, they were stealthily approaching earth.
Haro peered out of the window. The hive mind chattered in his head. It was only short range, about .35 of a parsec wide, but he spent a lot of his time tuning in. Sometimes he thought he could feel her out there, on the edge of his consciousness. The stars reflected in his glazed amber eyes. He sighed. Back to business. He focused himself on the voices close to him. There was a meeting in progress on the local channel.
It was not going well. Their objective was to attack Earth. The problem was that nobody knew why or how they were going to achieve it. General Langmuir only seemed concerned with blowing up landmarks and hovering in a menacing manner. Captain Coulomb had already attempted to infiltrate the human hive by laying thousands of eggs in the chamber of their Queen, but the humans had

Invasion Fleet by joe-wright

The suggester called it "A quirky,
humorous nod to the sci-fi genre."
