Heavy Love II by johnfinch

From the suggester:  I wanted to
suggest this poem because I've been
thinking about it ever since I read it.

I agree; the heavy, potent language of
this will leave readers awed after reading.

They Come and Go by taube3

An eerie, ethereal piece,
evocative of the ghosts of thoughts
spoken of within the text.

Goodbye to MemoryDad's hand stretched out,
Beckoning, straining, grasping at air.
My body froze in the doorway,
Watching his struggle.
"Teri, Teri," he repeated,
Hand falling and rising again.
The words filled the sterile hospital room.
"Teri, Teri."
I took a step towards him,
Pulled back by Mom's touch.
Her head shook.
I fled the room,
My own hand covering my mouth,
Sprinting for the bathroom.
Praying I would make it,
Not wanting to taste the vomit,
"Teri, Teri."
Dad's voice rang through my head,
Calling Mom's name, but addressing me.

"Goodbye to Memory" by RileyMasters

A wonderful piece that depicts the
sadness of a loved one developing
Alzheimer's, and the pain that
comes with the memory loss.

The wood's color is a pale yellow; "almost the same color as my skin." The boy muses with a small smile. His eyes go up when he hears someone approaching. The sound of metal hitting stone; a woman is descending down the keep's steps into the training yard, her plated feet clacking against the steps. The woman is old, her skin wrinkled and hair gray. Her steps are confident however, her back is straight and tall, a longbow gripped in her left hand.
"My young Lord, have you ever handled a bow before?" Her voice is raspy; the boy smiles knowing that his training will come from experienced hands, hard and coarse from firing innumerable arrows.
"No, I haven't. Bailey says my arms are too weak to handle a sword." The boy's voice is cheerful; his loose hair covers most of his head and blocks his eyes.
"The man has never fired a bow before in hi

A Lesson in the Training Field by popov89

A well-rendered snapshot into the
training of a young boy that has a wise
word or two about practice in general.
