ApotheosisHere standing in a fearsome gale,
Cast by the seas onto a shore
Without a mountain or a dale,
With only sands that whip skin sore
And teeth of rock that seek to rend
A bird or beast from bone to bone,
And acrid winds his back to bend,
Exposed, despondent, and alone,
                This is a man, this is a man.
He toils, wherefore he knoweth not;
He lives to shiver in the snow
Or lie prostrate when it is hot;
Whatever wonders he may sow,
He reaps a burr or bramble there,
For rains have smothered any crop,
The earth devoid of any fare,
And yet --- he toils, and will not stop:
         He is a man, he is a man.
He builds a house of wood and stone
To fend off beasts and savage climes;
He tills his earth till seeds have grown,
He waits and weathers through the times.
His will is firm, his hands are strong,
And he endures, with pleasures scarce
To spur him, beckon him

"Apotheosis" by Queen-Bastet

Things are not always what they
initially seem; this piece shows it.
Through the old styled language,
the allusions and references, this piece
celebrates what it is to be human.

"Sticks and Stones, pt. 6" by tonelokeart

A wonderfully creative use of nature
to create a visual poem that brings
to life the essence of love.

"Triple Bypass" by warpiggg

An incredibly interesting poem with
captivating language. The author tells about
a situation when you're so in love with someone,
you're at the mercy to do anything they like.
Beautiful and kind of eerie at the same time.

"Coup de Grace 1 - Shadow" by healixe

This opening chapter, though short, provides
everything necessary to hook the reader into a longer
narrative. The style and tone of the writing is light
and informal, perfectly suiting the fantasy genre.
At the same time it maintains a sophistication in its
use of colour imagery, natural dialogue and introduction
of plot details. A skillfully balanced read.

Stars"Stay In here, don't go out to the streets".
That is what the man said-or whispered- as he opened the window for new air. They were scared, the fear tangible in the humid air around them. They breathed it in slowly, and it filled them up, ran through their body, and overcame their minds.
Outside the ancient, forgotten city is a world unknown. As the innocent people remain locked inside the labyrinth of cobblestone streets, the violence continues outside the majestic doors. There is no end to it.
"I-I think I can hear them"
Them? Who are They? They are nothing but mere pawns on a battered chessboard; each one so close to the death that has been knocking on their door since the very first day.  Their screams mean nothing to us, neither should the low thud heard as the lifeless, mangled bodies fall to the blood-drenched earth. Twisted, it is.
The city is silent, and everyone behind locked doors. Not a light in sight. They all lay under a suffocating blanket of darkness. T

"Stars" by ellieBOOMphotography

A beautifully written piece about hope,
or in the case of a boy and his grandfather in
a silent city, the lack of hope.
