Things that deeply needed to be said.

A Green ReachThe farmland settles into me each time
we drive
the long road to things.
All my insides are shifting
to let the roots weave through. The sky
never seemed so close as when the short trees
ground themselves in your own fertile belly:
cloud friends, you are only a green reach
away.
I came for the sky, but I'm learning to need
the farms, like learning coffee
in your milk and sugar. An accident, but the sky
is so good
that I have to have it all,
that I can't resist anything
it touches. Joy has her fists
in my hair and her breasts
against my back, and each time I laugh
I fall in love again
forever. I meant to root
here, to dig my fingers in,
but the sky found me first and shook me glad,
and now like a fat happy pot,
I am all soil. I grow.

A Green Reach by completeaccident

A perfect prelude to the coming
of Spring, this poem leaves me feeling
refreshed every time I read it.

This brief glimpse into the life
of another is hard, but full of beautiful
lines and a strong voice.

CranesThe delicate paper crane rested in his hand as he held it out to his daughter. She was growing up so fast - he finally realized what his mother had meant when she said things like that. "This is an origami crane. I can teach you how to make them if you like." He smiled. "My dad used to tell me that if you make one thousand of them, your wish would come true."
The little girl wiped the tears from her cheeks and gently scooped the crane from her father's hand. "It's pretty, daddy. I want to learn how to make them." Jeremiah sat on her bed, near her desk, and she climbed onto his lap and put the crane near the top corner of her desk. She pulled out a new piece of paper for her father to demonstrate, but when she looked around he wasn't there. "Daddy? You were going to show me how to make paper cranes. Daddy, where are you?"
Nikola Bailey's dream faded from existence as she woke, with a cold chill. She opened her eyes to take in the room that was different from the one she'd once had - it

Bittersweet, with emphasis on the
"bitter," particularly towards the end.
