about a girlcolorblind,
though not the sort to confuse reds with greens, no.
myriads of greys smoke out a hushed world
& the newborn moon bleeds black

the type to stiffen & yelp
at a single needle, at a single lie

steeled.

though neither in blade nor jaw
that storm denatured me-
warped and rusted
side-stepped
fragile
thin-veined
unworthy
growing out of this ill-fitting s k i n

about a girl by ~londonrey
~londonrey effectively describes how to feels to
once be someone who felt complete and becoming someone who isn't,
but is simply stronger for it. The structure is powerful, the
descriptions are gorgeous and the ending has the same impact
each and every time.

Bloom you plant a kiss
on my heart
& oh,
how it grows,
a flower in bloom
in the heat of spring
every color of emotion shows,
& I,
I can't say a thing
'cause you've known my every word
from the start

Death Is PatientThe week before her birth a large black dog, The Grim, wondered the woods surrounding the village. The people of the village, particularly the parents, hid in their homes in fear from dusk till dawn. No children played outside during this time, no young lovers met in the woods. All moved quickly to their destination, fearful that the Grim would take them if they dallied too long even in the brightest times of day. But all knew that Death could wait and would win its prize in the end.
On the seventh day of the Grim's appearance, the baby girl was born and her parents locked her away in the center of their small home. Far from doors and window

An old world feeling fable. It felt like something out
of Grimm's Fairytales from the beginning to the very end.

Intelligent FoodThe piglet envied human beings. God had granted him an eye for colour and a brain for creativity. He could have been the next Piglet Picasso if given the chance. He'd even tried grabbing the attention of his mistress by making a portrait of himself solely using hay and his poop. The mistress had walked all over it ranting loudly about all the mess. That was when he knew his genius would never be appreciated in the barn. That was when he sent up a prayer.
Now God grants every living creature, human or otherwise, at least ONE heartfelt prayer. Whatever that wish may be used for, may be granted. The trick is to wording it properly. The piglet,

This piece of flash fiction is excellent black humour.
Morbid and dark, the tone is excellently created to give it
that comic edge. Behind the narrative is an interesting undertone,
suggesting at more serious issues.

Body Awareness - FFM 2010Bethel didn't recognize her husband any longer when he came home. The mine he worked at gave him a week off every three weeks, which was the only time she could get anything done around the house. Clear out the garage, change the oil, fix the doghouse, paint a room. Usually, Jordan was good for that kind of thing, but ever since they installed the Body-M, he had turned into a zombie.
"It's dinnertime!" But he wasn't hungry.
"Come to bed." But he'd say he just wasn't tired.
"It's hot in here." He'd just shrug, not a drop of sweat on him.
And it only got worse with time. Finally, she exploded in his face.

"Body Awareness" by ~Wolfrug
An intriguing bit of sci-fi flash fiction about a husband,
a wife, and how one new invention redefines their marriage --
and their humanity.
