duetThe earth is not perfect in its circumference,
it wobbles and shudders as it sings,
with pitched layers of atmospheric frequencies
and deep molten throbs.
Each person makes a noise that drowns out the
sound against a tsunami's thunder.
Do they ever know the song before it's too late,
or go mute long enough to know the words.
When you and I are together, we quietly hum in
hopes of hearing it in tune, of being a duet in sync.
When we can't, we touch; the friction of bodies
become tuning forks vibrating with the tides,
of bird and beast migrating by the silvery tines of
stars, to the music of our only home.

Per the suggester: "Duet is a
gorgeous example of how a poem can
be general in a way and also sharply,
beautifully precise in imagery and direction."

Something Borrowedgirls in white dresses
don't always want weddings.
the priests would speak of leaps of faith
and my hands would clasp the wood in horror,
knuckles bleached like bone- and i found
something old: the knot tied in my throat.
my vocal cords did not let empty words escape.
and there was something blue: the heart
that hesitated. how can a seedling prophesy
its harvest? how can a caterpillar promise
the power of its wings?
so let others gather flowers.
we will skip the mass
but not the bed: and through
this something borrowed,
earn a little time-
and a place to rest our heads.

From the suggester: This is
just a really creative piece on
the topic of marriage, it's fantastic!

Electric5.17.13
Let us be electric.
Let us sleep under jellyfish skies
with only hope for a blanket
and let our kisses shock these
broken hearts back to life.
Let us be the sun,
glowing radiant, the
best yet to come, reaching
for the glory of seemingly
endless days and falling
in flames only to rise
in flames again.
Let us be young
for just a while longer,
while we still know how
to live like it's electric,
like it's a fire in our souls.

From the suggester: So beautiful,
pure hope and life in every line.

Greg's Groceries by Gryphyn-Bloodheart

I'm honestly not sure what to make
of such a strange piece, but the unique
obsession of the narrator made a
fantastic hook I couldn't let go of.

Assassination 1 - Marcus Jones   Marcus Jones sighed heavily as the elevator smoothly climbed to the top of his building to his penthouse suite. He knew he still had work to do that would carry on late into the night, possibly early in the morning. When the doors separated, he shuffled over the maroon carpet to his office with the stack of folders under his arm, dropping them onto the dark oak desk before plopping himself in his favorite office chair with the green leather cushions and copper tacks. The drapes behind him, once flowing, fluttering with the cool high altitude wind as the glass double-doors remained open for air now stood silent, still as the wallpaper. Twelve times in five years, he thought heavily to himself as he shifted his Kevlar vest to be more comfortable. He clicked his trademark gold and silver pen, flipping open the first of the folders and getting right to work.
The night, and most of the morning went without event. When he got bored, he stood to make himself a drink; a special blend of

Assassination by StevenGilby

An interesting story about an assassin
and her target that ends unexpectedly.
