To be of air by bluest-green

Possibly the ultimate state of being.
That's what this poem expresses.
To be so at peace and so light...
don't we spend our whole lives
striving for that?

Whether the Land Cups Water, Whether Water Holds Land by Blzzard

The firm structure entwined with fluid,
thoughtful images makes this a wondrous
piece.

The Machine Without a PurposeAt Slumber Inc.
We had the most beautiful machine.
Metallic, reflective chrome
Adorned every square inch
Of its surface.
It was complete with
A myriad of gauges and vents.
Belts and cogs
Spun and clicked with pride.
White smoke poured from its
Exhaust endlessly.
It would consume pint
Upon pint of oil
With every passing day,
And gallon upon gallon of fuel
With every passing hour.
We would sweat buckets and nails
Keeping it running.
We never knew what it did
Exactly, but it purred
Like a newborn kitten,
And that was all that mattered.
Until, The People's Republic of Mulzar,
Went bankrupt
And they sent us home
To scratch our skulls with forks.

The Machine Without a Purpose by waffle26

What would we be willing
to do to keep the dream machine running?
That is what this poem made me think about.
Whatever it's really about, it's a very
enjoyable little story.  I could see a
whole book or animated movie done around this.

The boys sat and stared at me, nervously awaiting what Papa had written next. Was the student's true love going to dance with him after all the trouble he had gone through with the nightingale and the rose? I had read this a dozen times before he published it, and the boys had heard it on numerous occasions, but they never gave up thinking that it could end differently somehow.
"Keep going, Mamma." Vyvyan begged and tugged at his shirt sleeves.
"Shh, Vyvyan! Let her keep going." Cyril huffed, hardly taking his eyes off of the book in my hands.
"Boys, do you want me to continue or not?"
"Yes! Keep going!" They shouted out of order and I looked back at the page.
"'But the girl frowned, "I am afraid it will not go with my dress," she answered; "and, besides

"To Finish the Story" by KaleidoscopeWoman

This ambitious piece of historical
fiction succeeds well at establishing
the voice of famous characters. It also
picks up on more general feelings of the
age, showing how well it has been researched.
Good quality historical fiction.

These is such a brilliantly written
character flash that you must stay and savor.
The strong, well-crafted style shines through
as well.
