"Concerns for Beelzebub" by Solaces
This piece is certain to leave you
with goosebumps; not only is it an example
of superb poetic imagery and near-rhyme,
it offers familiar motifs with startlingly
fresh perspectives.

Broken.i.
My mother doesn’t wear her wedding
ring anymore. Instead, it sits on the
counter above the kitchen sink, like
she took it off while washing dishes
and forgot to put it back on; but I’ve
seen her pick it up and wipe the counter
and walk away, like she no longer
recognized it as her own.
ii.
She and I have the same long, slim
fingers, except hers are clean and
manicured and tanned, they’re used
to flipping through old books, still
delicate and fragile, with arthritic
veins tracing through; Mine have
always been pale and torn up and
raw from anxious nerves, tough
callused finger tips from encounters
with cello strings and piano keys.
She takes care of herself, but I think
she’s given up on taking care of me.
iii.
Sometimes, we leave, just her and I;
we get into her car and drive and
drive and drive until we’ve lost the
things that are dragging around our
ankles and weighing us down; Our
“adventures” tend to lead us where
the thoughts drown the fastest

Mothers are some the most strongest
and heroic people in our lives. They are
the ones we rely on for love and support.
Most would give their world to their children.
However,  sometimes mothers are not always as
strong as they seem. This absolutely stunning
and wordlessly amazing piece shows that mothers,
too, are human.

The ImposterYou do not understand.
This was never my war
never my heart
never strength enough
to take on those who wish
me dead,
and God bless Them
and every single word
I've written,
for They have more
nobility
than all of you combined.
I refuse this fight,
I refuse the staff
the sword
the Way of Angels
                                  for I am not one.

"The Imposter" by seussical-love
Great flow with a nice tempo. Fantastic
use of lexis to portray what is felt to be a
passionate topic.A wonderful read, thank you seussical-love

Needed: One heart. All these words are somehow just creating more of a problem. I can't tell you how I feel. I can't express into words what I'm really trying to say. And I'm finally starting to feel that even if I could, I might not want to.
I have this poetic heart. It beats off tune, falters, even stops at times. I've always wanted to trade it in. Find a donor whose heart wasn't so vulnerable and easily bruised. Maybe I'd finally be able to breathe when I'm around you. Maybe I wouldn't have to physically hold myself together when you leave.

"Needed: One heart" by Karin-Wall
The simplicity of the words only serves to
enhance the complexity of emotions. Past the usual
imageries of popular lit pieces today, this piece is a refreshing reminder that telling it as it is may be just as impactful.

"Le Disko" by Leah-the-Red
An unusual piece, which combines plot,
narrative voice and clever imagery to intrigue
and confuse the reader.
