crossroad"crossroad"
to see what is before you -
how you have left your mark,
your residue upon my soul
which will never wash clean -
trajectories launched long before
and moments ago,
nudges of time considered
banal and forgotten,
in hindsight, still make no sense
not to recognize events ending
at the start of that step
bringing fates and fates closer,
no longer able to halt it
or retrieve what once felt
preferable to the
weightlessness of the unknown,
to try and recall the feeling-
looking at me, incredulous
to what you have, standing
at the hundredth crossroad
of your existence-
as if, at last, the moon has noticed
that its ever widening path
through millions of millennia
has caused the earth to eclipse

Long DragI walk alone with my balloon
Up and down the boulevard
There's the tree I made out to you
Carved it with my army knife, the one I almost never used
Like you, like you
Mystery is forever, the dead forget
Some people last
And that's how I made you out
That's how I made it out-
to you

To She Who Crowns...To she who crowns the laurel wreath,
If you had wings and pointy teeth
And nasty bites you did bequeath,
And leached life from my every limb,
Vitality upon your whim,
Well... maybe i would like you then.
But you're as fair as fairest fair,
A rarest rose without compare,
Exuding beauty everywhere,
Enthralling, mankind's sweetest flower
Blooming beauty with your power,
... and with envy, I’m made sour.
How to compete with such a jewel?
I feel a toad upon my stool,
A lowly subject ‘neath your rule.
What is the good of flashing eyes,
A face that draws from men their sighs ?
When beauty blinks, I’m food for flies.
It seems you flaunt this in my face
When pulling stars from outer space.
You gift them to me in your grace,
And offer me with sweetest smile
The chance to rest with you a while,
To hand to death a firm denial,
To be a planet 'round your sun,
Reflecting light 'til life is done,
To shine a song of what we’ve won
As man has t

Fire Bugi'm mesmerized by dancing sparks that
waltz up a path of gasoline, and suck
the air i breathe away. the heat is comforting,
and the smell of poison brings me to peace.
the screams are music to deaf ears, and
my eyes are vibrant with the sight of
curling steel. My satisfaction is laid out
by the sunset background of flames.
held up by destruction; the ashes
slide through my delicate hands, and i begin
to understand it all. fire is just inspiration,
that got out of control.

The MomentsThe Moments
Did you forget
every night we spent
lying
wrapped up in each other's arms
smiling up
at the stars,
feeling so small,
so insignificant,
for the first time
in our lives?
Some things stick with you
even through
the heartbreak,
even when the love
is gone.
The moments,
they stick.

The Dream of the Corrupt RoomsThe first room looks like a child's bedroom. A heavy concentration of dust motes glow white in the blue-grey light diffusing through windows that are almost opaque with filth. The walls, ceiling, and floors are corrupted with water damage, rust, mould, and dirt. Toys are strewn about the floor---stuffed animals, a train set, dolls, cars---and all of these are covered in a fine layer of dirt mingled with apocalyptic ash. I recognize some of the toys as my own from childhood.
There are sounds in the background, too muffled and distant to distinguish. Thunder, or bombs dropping, perhaps, with a constant static of wind and rain. Or perhaps the static is the sound of my own deafness, and the throbbing booms are the erratic beating of my own heart.
I move to the next room, and I become aware that my feet are bare; I can feel the textured grit beneath my skin, and the varied levels of dampness softening the floor, which seems to be made of wood covered in plaster.
The floor is even damper now

The AudienceThe Audience
Beautiful music issued from the small band, carrying across the entire audience hall. Vae moved from the stair well, stepping across the diamond floor towards the elevated desk, from which a never ending line extended down out of the building. Many had come, possibly more than last year. Their queue filled the hall and extended from the Temple of Aerandir out onto the main temple plaza.
The Temple complex was a large plateau, which floated above the city of Mythanian. There were seven buildings upon the floating palace, one for each of the Seven Governing Deities. It was also home to the seven apostles, the chosen mortals whom were the highest chosen of the Governors. Vae was the apostle of Eldarwen, goddess of nature.
She moved over to the elevated desk, catching the eye of Brianna, a fellow apostle. Brianna was the apostle of Alasse, goddess of law and war, and the second most powerful of the chosen. The other Apostle stood as Vae approached the ta

Okay, here goes...
Many comments have been made, many people have hauled off and jumped and are now wondering what is really going on, many tears have been cried (at least by me cuz y'all--y'all are mean. Enough said about that, it doesn't matter. I wish everyone all of the best and more.
I would like to take a few minutes to say two things:
1) Many have come through DLD and been better in this literature community for it. Dedication and hard work helped forward their already progressing talent. Not me, not Will, not Lili or any other running administrator--just dedication and hard work. We have present and former hats, badges and most of all the owners of co

Final Words
It is with a hesitant mind and a bloated heart that I write this. DailyLitDeviations (https://www.deviantart.com/dailylitdeviations) was something that was formed out of frustration and anger. I suppose I am not surprised to see it go out that way. A young man named Brandon and I were complaining in a private chat room about how little literature was featured on dA and that we were tired of it. We both wrote several emails to the staff only to be ignored like so many quality artists out there. Eventually we knew that we had to do something or explode from frustration. And so DLD was born. I stayed up for 5 or 7 days straight. My wife hated me and my phone bill went throug
New Information...
It seems that all of you in need of seeing this tradition go on can be satisfied. I would direct you to the account of TheseKrimzonFlames (https://www.deviantart.com/thesekrimzonflames) where you will find links to a new account where his version of DLD will go on in a new and different form.
I am awaiting a journal entry from VertigoArt (https://www.deviantart.com/vertigoart) to post here with his thoughts on our closing of this particular project. It will be posted soonest.
Few know of my own love and time put into this project because few worked night and day alongside me to take care of everything possible from general administration duties to contests, to answering 100s of messages a day and soliciting everywhere p
Everyone, please hold on...
Please be advised that we are in the process of deciding what and how to do with this account by way of moving on--by "we" I mean myself, VertigoArt (https://www.deviantart.com/vertigoart), and various seniors/members that are interested in sticking with something DLD or DLD-like. Everyone's responses are being taken into consideration--even the personal attacks made on me are valued opinions. This account owns a number of points and I am considering doling them out to a group of people who would like to start-up a new group in the same vein. A group of people who are concerned with the work of the literature community and not the kudos that go with serving the community. I ha
